Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Manor car park Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: pretty flat Air Temperature: 11 Sea Temperature: 9 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 23 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 20.7 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Got down about 11:20 to see lots of fishermen spread out as they had their
pre-Xmas fair. Wind was quite cross-off and looked 7m weather but rigged
8.5m and thought if windy out there I'ld stay inshore as i did not want to
underpowered trying to get back in. Ian and Chris turned up as I was going
out, and seeing I was going OK Ian joined me. Sea was quite flat but I
still fell in a few times as so rusty, and sea was numbingly cold after my
last sail in Nov. After a few falls got it together and was quite warm,
even a bit hot at times!.
Nice sailing in and out, with the sun shining on the shortest day of the
year. Wind was up and down as offshore and came in after 1;15 as it died.
Had a good chat to Ian and Pete (walking off his cold and dreaming of
Tarifa) then went out again for another 30mins as the wind came back. Hands
were a bit cold so wrapped the gloves on like toasties. Coming in I dragged
afisherman's line behind me, and he was OK as I apologised and said I was
the biggest thing he'd caught all day.
One wierd experience was falling in about half a mile out and being chest
deep in water. Nice day, quite warm except for hands occassionally.
Saw some sails out at Fludyers so dropped in there on way home to see Roger
who had been on 7.5m and overpowered at times. Despite the theory of Manor
being more open to WSW looks like Fludyers is better. Oh well, next
year.
Got a max spped of 22.5knots, the really bore off wind and thought I was
going much faster but only got 23knots.
